Noises from Your Vehicle

Why am I hearing noises from my car?

If you hear new or strange noises coming from your car, it could mean there’s a problem with your vehicle. Common issues that can cause weird noises are worn brakes, loose or worn belts, engine problems, or issues with the exhaust system, suspension, or transmission. If you think that you are hearing something it is best to err on the side of caution and schedule an appointment to get your vehicle looked at to fix the issue and prevent further damage.

What noises from my car should I be concerned about?

Below are some common noises that come from vehicle problems that may sound familiar to what you are hearing.

  • High-pitched squealing or grinding noises when you use your brakes.
  • Whining, squeaking, knocking, or ticking from your engine.
  • Rattling or hissing from under your vehicle.
  • Clunking or banging when on the road.
  • Grinding or whining when shifting gears.

Don’t wait for a problem to get worse before fixing it. Hearing a noise can be an early indication that something is not working properly in your vehicle. Maintenance on your Chevy now can prevent more serious (and more expensive) issues down the road.
